Overview
Context
I travel a lot, so I know that moment when you're excited about a trip but then reality hits - there's so much to figure out, starting with flights.
That's where PROS Fare Finder Map comes in. It's the interactive tool you see on airline websites when you want to explore destinations and compare fares visually. Airlines use it to showcase their routes, and travelers use it to discover options when they're flexible about where to go. It should be the fun part where you explore and get excited about your next destination.
But we started hearing from users that something wasn't quite working...
'I can't tell if this is a direct flight or if I need connections.'
'I see prices, but I don't understand what I'm getting.'
'I want to explore destinations, but this is just frustrating.'
Honestly, their feedback hit home because I'd felt the same way. When you're trying to plan a trip, unclear information just makes everything so much harder than it needs to be.
So we set out to fix it. How might we make fare exploration feel intuitive instead of frustrating?
Result
We redesigned the map interface to provide intuitive exploration - for travelers who previously felt confused by unclear flight information.
Users could now distinguish between direct and connecting flights instantly...
...get pricing details right on the map instead of hunting through screens...
...and navigate confidently without getting lost in complex interfaces.
The new experience launches December 2025 for 10M+ travelers. Hopefully now planning trips will feel more like the exciting part it's supposed to be.
